Context
Three points from eight games is awful. This happened for Palace last season. Since promotion, there have been three seasons Palace didn't go eight league games in a row without winning. One of them was the De Boar/Roy season. In that season, Palace had two runs of seven in a row without winning! In all those seasons, Palace didn’t qualify for Europe, so the European tour is still off, but we could still have a good/fun season. Even last season, Bournemouth took until game week 10 to get a win. By game week 19, they were 12th, and they finished 12th.
Changing manager
Something isn’t clicking. The press isn’t working and Palace is not creating enough. The easiest thing to do would be to change the Manager. Create some chaos with the playing squad and hope that gets some results. As an accountant, I hate waste, and sacking the manager & his coaching team is wasteful. Palace will pay most of their contracts. Realistically with the Premier League pressure, it’s a cost of doing business but it’s still a waste.
David Moyes
I like Moyes, My sister lived in Preston for more than a decade and I watched a fair few games’ of Moyes Preston going up the leagues. He did great with them and Everton. No one has done well with Manchester Utd in a long time and he only had one season at the club. He has done very well with West Ham but they expensive squad. He is similar to Roy in lots of ways.
I like him but it’s wrong for Palace. Palace needs to pick a lane when it comes to the style of football. Either Palace is a low block English style team or a high press German style team. Then from there, Palace can make choices about the style of the academy and the recruitment.
Rob Holding
I feel for Rob, he was signed to be the third or fourth-choice center back. Get a couple of cup games or win first-team job after an injury. That’s what he signed up for. Glasner has come in and he needs center backs that join the attack and recovery pace to get back or to cover. That isn’t Rob. The money spent on his transfer fee and wages is a waste under Glanser. That money could have been spent on other players or instead of getting a less expensive player, we could spent more to get the premium player.
Glasner Center Backs
We have suffered through a bad couple of months but now the new backline should be settled. It's taken a lot of pain for that to happen. If we change the manager then it's a different style and players like Lacroix would be less useful with the silly amount of pace he has got.
This is the point: Palace's team slowly changes the squad but quickly changes management style. If it’s time to change managers, then we should only interview managers who fit the Palace style or style going forward. Then stick to that style.
